This Is What It Looks Like When Neo-Nazis And Communists Are On The Ballot

ATHENS, GREECE -- I'm sitting inside of a school in a very upscale neighborhood in Greece, where people are voting in today's historic election that could determine whether or not Greece stays in the Eurozone.

Of all the images from inside that have struck us the most, this one takes the cake.

On the table inside the voting location are candidate lists for all the parties.

Right next to each other: Candidate lists for The Golden Dawn Neo-Nazi Party (with its unmistakable swastika-like logo) and the main (but not not only) communist party on today's ballot. You must admit you never see anything like that at a US polling location.

Other aspects are a bit more conventional.

Here's what the voting booths look like.

And here's the box where you place the ballots after you make your selection.

And of course there's a ton of media. At the moment here, there might be as much media as there are voters.

Here's The Goal That Eliminated Russia And Sent Upset-Minded Greece On To The Quarterfinals Of The Euros

Entering the final matches of group play at Euro 2012, Russia only needed a tie against underdog Greece in order to advance to the quarterfinals.

But a goal in the closing seconds of the first half proved to be the game-winner for Greece. That, coupled with a win by the Czech Republic over Poland, eliminated Russia and sent Greece on to the final eight.

Entering the tournament, only Denmark at 80/1 was a longer shot to win this tournament than Greece at 66/1. Unfortunately for Greece, they will now likely face the mighty Germans in the quarterfinals.

But for the next six days, the nation of Greece will have something to smile about. Here's the winning goal (via ESPN)...

10 Things Every Good Boss Knows About Leadership

crowd, party, mobile advertising conference, june 2012, bi, dng

In today's corporate world, managers are judged by the performance of the teams they manage.

If your team isn't reflecting the positive image you want to portray, there may be a little room for improvement in your management style.

Here are 10 tips to help you improve:

1. Tailor your management style. Just like each manager has a different management style, each employee has a different way of being managed. It can seem daunting to switch your technique every time you interact with another employee, but paying attention to key motivators may help you maximize each team member's efficiency.

2. Listen better. Successful managers listen to their staff and take action. Don't say your door is always open, and then never act on what your employees bring to you. Show that you can earn their trust by listening to their concerns and suggestions and showing that you care.

3. Lead by example. Make sure you're acting how you want your staff to act. You want to act as an example of what the company expects of a stellar employee, so make sure you're giving off the right vibe to encourage your staff to follow in your footsteps.

4. Never show favoritism. While it is natural to make work friends, be careful about buddying up with one of your staff as it can make others feel that you're showing favoritism, even if you don't think you are. Treat all your staff equally, and limit your number of personal relationships. Don't let your personality preferences get in the way of managing fairly.

5. Keep learning. Good managers want to improve constantly. Read books, blogs, and white papers about management, and attend conferences and workshops to improve your skills. Management is a learned skill.

6. Help your staff succeed. Few people are interested in keeping the same job for 50 years. Help your staff by promoting and recommending them for other positions in the company. Make it clear that you're there to help them find the best fit professionally—even if it isn't in your department.

7. Hire people smarter than you. Don't let vanity get in your way; it behooves you to hire intelligent people who can perform their jobs above expectations. Surrounding yourself with smart folks only raises the bar for you.

8. Be around. Managers who hide behind closed doors miss out on valuable opportunities to interact with their teams and really get a feel for the office climate. Don't be one of those. Spend time with your staff daily, and know what's going on so you can avoid potential issues.

9. Create trust. Be a boss of your word; when you say you'll do something, follow through. This helps your staff understand that you can be trusted, and it will encourage them to work their hardest for you.

10. Know that you'll never get "there." There's no pinnacle on Mount Manager. You never become the ideal manager; you simply continue to get better. By staying humble and continuing to work on your own professional development, you'll find that your management skills will improve constantly. Take feedback from your boss about ways to improve, and continually look for areas that need enrichment.

These Exquisitely Detailed Paintings Show How Motorola Envisioned The Future In 1961

motorola ad house of future

In 1961, artist Charles Schridde painted a visually stunning series of ads for Motorola, envisioning what the "House of the Future" would look like.

These Jetson-like abodes, often depicted as overlooking waterfalls or dessert canyons, were equipped with Motorola's recent inventions: radio equipment and "large screen" (19-inch) black-and-white televisions. Eight years later, Neil Armstrong would say, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," using a Motorola transceiver while on the moon.

Schridde was a painter that loved depicting the Wild West, but he had previously done automotive ad work. He was assigned the Motorola account while working at New Center Studios in Detroit after winning an in-house contest to depict "a neat place to watch TV."

BlackRock: Here Are 4 Reasons Why Greece Would Be Screwed If They Exited The Eurozone

russ koesterich

Greece is holding parliamentary elections this Sunday.

One of the concerns is that if the left-leaning, anti-bailout SYRIZA party wins, the Greece may soon leave the eurozone.

BlackRock's Russ Koesterich argues that leaving the eurozone is a pretty horrible path for Greece.  In a new video, he lays out four reasons why.

  • "You're going to effectively wipe out the savings of much of the middle-class."
  • "If you go back to the drachma – and that drachma is going to depreciate as it almost certainly will against the euro – you also run the risk of inflation."
  • "Typically when you see a country leave a currency union and depreciate their currency, part of the benefit is that it makes their export sector more competitive.  Greece has a very small, and at this point uncompetitive export sector.  So, they won't get that benefit."
  • "Greece still runs a very large primary deficit.  In other words, the government cannot pay their bills even before you figure in the costs of interest payments.  If Greece leave the euro, the European Union will no longer be subsidizing that deficit, which means the Greek government is going to have to cut back on its spending dramatically and pose even more pain on the Greek population."

Koesterich believes that Greece still faces tremendous pain in the form of austerity if it stays in the eurozone.  But he believes its a much better option than leaving.
