Tuesday afternoon was dominated by anticipation of Apple's earnings, but prior to that the buzz was all about the change of scenery in Europe.
As we wrote this morning, the bad news for Angela Merkel is that the jig is up: There's almost nobody left who is willing to go along with the German idea that the sole solution for Europe is spending discipline and "reform," whatever that means.
That was a riff on a piece by Nicholas Kulish in the New York Times, talking about the growing anti-austerity drumbeat in places like France and the Netherlands, which comes on top of.
Ryan McCarthy at Reuters also rounds up a bunch of other anti-austerity commentary from around the web.
When you combine it with the latest note from Richard Koo, about how the Nomura economist went to Europe, and even was able to convince Germans (!) that fiscal stimulus was needed in Europe, you sense that something really is changing.
There's not a new consensus settled on yet. For example, Francois Hollande's vision of a more socially integrated Europe is obviously different than whatever caused Geert Wilders to torpedo the Netherland's austerity deal, but Germany is clearly becoming very isolated.

Porn star Bree Olson spent her day using her breasts to protect other women's.
Olson, who is the ex-girlfriend of Hollywood playboy Charlie Sheen, rode around New York City today on the "Save Our Boobs" bus which gave out free breast exams to women and promoted breast cancer awareness, according to Fox News.
The exams were administered by certified plastic surgeons—not the porn stars.
The bus, which was sponsored by the adult entertainment website Porn Hub, stopped at Grand Central Terminal, Times Square, and Central Park.
Olson, who called herself the "cheerleader" of the event, told Fox News' Alex Crees: "Pornhub came to me with this idea to do breast cancer awareness. They figured, you know, breasts are a large part of our industry, and the two would kind of coincide."

Since it's a slow morning, we'll take a quick opportunity to remind you that next week is going to be huge for Europe.
First, on May 3 (Wednesday) we get the next ECB meeting.
As Citi's Steven Englander has pointed out, this is a crucial meeting for both bulls and bears, as everyone will be watching to see if the bank does something about the renewed panic in Spain and Italy. If the ECB does nothing (and the ECB is excellent at not acting), then watch out. Market panic could go to the next level.
And then three days later, May 6, it's election day.
As Nomura's Alistair Newton has pointed out, in addition to the French runoff, you have the far more consequential Greek election, where there's a considerable possibility of a wild outcome that sees minority parties make significant gains.
If the two big parties lose their large stakes in parliament, watch out.
Also there are Italian regional elections at the same time.
So between the ECB and the elections, it's going to be HUGE!
