The Psychology of Bad Credit

[WizardRSS: unable to retrieve full-text content]

The mindset of damaging our credit can be attributed in many cases to the same basic nature found in many self-destructive tendencies, and many of these have a basis in psychological addictive behavior disorders. Knowing that we are surpassing our limits by overextending ourselves is in many ways the same as the alcoholic thinking that the first drink will be all right, or the gambler going for one more big hand of cards or one more big roll of the dice. In fact, society as a whole has taken on the overall viewpoint of wanting more, to the point that it becomes akin to an addictive personality.

FANTASY FOOTBALL GUIDE: Here's Who You Should Start And Sit In Week Ten

Julio Jones

Sunday marks week ten of America's new favorite pastime:

Fantasy Football.

It's a multi-million dollar industry - and growing.

But who do you start? Who do you sit?

The Aaron Rodgers' and Adrian Peterson's of the world are automatic plays.

But what about some of the fringe guys?

Mark Sanchez v. NE

He’s the only quarterback not to throw for over 250 yards against the Pats this season. But he did throw for two touchdowns in their first meeting. The Jets are running the ball again, which opens up the play-action pass nicely.

Christian Ponder v. GB

Don’t laugh. Green Bay will obviously score a lot of points. And Minnesota will be forced to throw. Ponder actually threw for over 200 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start against the Packers.

Steven Jackson v. CLE

Fantasy owners couldn’t have been more disappointed in Jackson the first half of the season. But the running back is healthy again, and aiming for his third consecutive 100-yard game. He’ll face the 30th ranked run defense to achieve it. Expect to be rewarded.

Oh Crap... AUSTRIA?!?

And now we have to start talking about this.

It's the Austria-German 10-year spread

chart

The spread is widening further today, even as Italy improves and markets are rising.

What's the deal with Austria? Well there have been persistent rumors about a downgrade, but furthermore, Austrian banks are famously exposed to Eastern Europe. And now you see stuff about how Slovenian yields are surging.

Too many fires to put out.

For a good background story on Austrian banks and exposure to Eastern Europe, see this NYT piece from last year.

Bank Stocks Recover After Italian Job, Watch Out For France Next

If the situation in Italy does not improve soon, the banks would end up writing-off more of their debt in subsequent quarters, and will also have a significant reduction in their deployed debt capital. While today stocks are very cautiously inching higher, the continued structural risks remain until European countries can find a way to support the weaker economies without undermining the credibility of their own balance sheets and open the way for downgrades on their debt, which is an issue France is currently facing.

Get Ready To Start Your Day With Charlie Rose

CBS is making official the much-rumored changes to its beleaguered morning show.

The network has just announced Charlie Rose and Gayle King will be heading up the two-hour 'Early Show' starting sometime next year.

The result, according to Brian Stelter at the NYT, will be a morning show more focused on hard news combined with a conversational tone.  Think The View meets Morning Joe.

The Morning Joe allusion is not a coincidence.  Earlier this year longtime Morning Joe EP Chris Licht left the show and moved to CBS with the goal of revamping the morning line-up.   His move followed an entire overhaul of the CBS News division at the beginning of the year and much behind-the-scenes upheaval at the Early Show itself.

Gayle King is mostly known to larger audiences as Oprah Winfrey's best-friend -- she has a talk show on the new OWN network and made frequent appearance on Oprah's syndicated show.

Rose, a longtime newsman and uber-well known figure in media circles, hosts his own nightly PBS talkshow.  It remains to be seen whether he will be doing any cooking.
